The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression.
Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

We stayed in the beautifull place Luck Uyana Cabana, with very nice spice garden. They offer guided tour in the garder for free with foot massage. You can enjoy long massage and pay for it.
They offer discount for elephant ride and bath with Millenium Elephant foundation which is just next door.
Unfortunately we got ride by Tuk Tuk from the bus station and he reocmend some other - cheeper, but not so clean place for elephant bath. We did not have time to go to Pinnawala itself.

Pinnawala is an elephant orphanage with some axillary tourist services around. Keep in mind that the elephants are the priority and you get the opportunity to be there with them in the comfort of a nice hotel. Plan to arrive after 4PM if you are staying in a hotel by the river as the elephants are moving between the river and the orphanage. They came down three times during the day I was there. Fantastic.

It would have been nice to have had time to sit and have lunch watching the elephants and relaxing. There is also a range of shops to explore and I think a chance to go visit the orphanage in addition to seeing the elephants being bathed.
I liked it a lot. When I entered they put a welcome sign on me. It has a terrace, living room, large computer room, toilet, dining room. Kasum the host is exceptional, he picked me up and took me to the station, he took me to the Elephant Orphanage and other places. He is an unbeatable tour guide. In fact I work 10 years in airlines. Totally recommended. One 10 in everything. My experience with elephants is amazing.
Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions.
If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you.
It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩
I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
It was a great stay. They upgraded our room to their chalet which was so spacious and comfortable. We could use the other hotel near Peacock for restaurant and pool and it had the best view of elephants in the river. They offered free drive between hotels making it very very easy to use facilities. Mr Andrew was deeply kind and helpful and we're thankful for the service.
Super friendly helpful people.
Andrew the manager was amazing with his help and recommendations
Really good food in the evening cooked by the caretakers wife who was lovely. Fresh fruit from the gardens.
The villa is part of a hotel so breakfast is a short walk to the hotel overlooking the elephants bathing area of the river.
The hotel is on a river virtually in the elephant orphanage. You can watch the elephants coming and going from the balcony or pool. The breakfast is very good with eggs, toast, fruits, juice and coffee or tea and the room is extremely nice. Minimum 3 star hotel.
The hosts here were so kind and accommodating. The room was spacious and comfy with a balcony overlooking the garden. The elephant orphanage is very close by and there are some lovely poolside bars and restaurants in the area.
Amazing view and plenty of time to see and feed elephants- can pay extra to bathe them- it’s all in affiliation with the elephant orphanage down the road- bring all the elephants down every morning for a swim in the river.
The hotel is very grand and comfortable. The staff were excellent. They arranged a Sri Lankan food cooking class for us, even though they had a very large organised party going on at the same time.
The location was perfect to see the elephants. The elephants walked right by the hotel entrance. And the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely visit again!
The friendly staff, private pool attached to the Honeymoon Suite, and close proximity to the Elephant Orphanage made this place extremely worth the price we spent on this.
The location is very convenient to visit the Elephant Orphanage and the Zoo. The price of the room per night is reasonable for the room condition and comfortability.
Very kind staff. Couldn't be closer to the elephant orphanage (across the street), which meant I saw the daily walks to the river. Quiet and restful stay.
A perfect stopover between Colombo and Kandy and beyond. Full of old world charm and the tour of the hotel was great! Staff friendly and accommodating!
